My Qualifications

I am an experienced English teacher, with a B. A. English (Hons) degree from the University of London and a PGCE. I have taught in independent schools for over 20 years. I have had considerable success in helping school learners either those who were struggling in one way or another, feeling swamped and needing one-to-one support, or learners who wished to get their Grade 9 in both English language and literature. I have been told I instil confidence and that I quickly understand in what area learners may be needing help.

I have also lived in South Africa where I had the pleasure of teaching TESOL, in International language schools in South Africa between 2010 and 2019, mainly adult learners who wished to enhance their language skills outside working hours, in order to help with their careers. I am a native English speaker, a British citizen, and have a current DBS check.

In 2008, I completed an online TESOL course for which I received an A grade.

During my time in South Africa, I taught a class of trainee teachers from Gabon, which was fun!

About me

I have marked examinations for a leading examination board, including IGCSE examinations at O level and international A level (literature) and AS level (language and literature).I have also contributed to a number of educational text books which are currently in use. My teaching style is relaxed and I enjoy forming a teacher/learner relationship so that we can work together productively. I automatically tailor the content of lessons to suit the learner`s needs. I began teaching online in 2020
