I am a newly qualified English teacher with a TEFL certificate.
Before starting the lessons, I like to get to know my students by figuring out their current level, and what they would like to achieve. From there I will tailor lessons with which topics and grammar need to be covered/revised. If the student is still at school, I would be happy to contact the teacher to know where the areas of improvement are needed and support the student with homework, revise past topics, and any extra help with exam preparation.
Lessons are taught in English to encourage students to speak English rather than using their native language. My lessons are mostly speaking-based with the support of reading and listening tasks. After class, a short written homework will be set to consolidate the content of the class. This method ensures that all four skills are practiced. If a student requests a specific skill to be revised more, I would be more than happy to arrange the requests.
Lessons will be an hour long with a 5-minute break in-between to stimulate the student's concentration. I will track the student's improvement for each lesson by dedicating the first 10 minutes of each class to revise and recap what was taught from the previous lesson. If the student still does not understand the topic will be revised again in a later lesson, or another homework.
