Having taught ESL classes from ages 3-13 in international schools in Spain over the past few years, it gave me a real-world grasp on whole classroom instruction. I was able to see first-hand which techniques worked on paper and not in the actual classroom, as well as vice versa. On my return to the U.S. I am looking for a teaching position in a language school that will allow me to continue my passion. Regardless of what the individual student may vary in needing—if students are studying for specific exams, advancing their general knowledge of English, or even there for a cultural exchange, I have developed a range of teaching methodologies to suit the needs of every class.
Jake has had many different experiences throughout his teaching career. After graduating from SUNY Cortland with a BA in Spanish, he decided to further it by moving to Madrid, Spain from 2019-2021. He was interested in teaching English and mastering his Spanish skills at the same time. There he worked in a primary school teaching English to children (3 years of age - 6th grade). While also doing private tutoring, he worked in a Cambridge certified language Academy. He taught levels A1 - C2. Since returning to the US, he’s continued his educational career by obtaining his CELTA certification in May 2023. He just finished working for an English Summer camp in NYC teaching the advanced level (C1). He is a passionate and dedicated individual. Always putting others before himself in both his personal and work life.
