I have a master's degree in Applied Linguistic, specialized in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) and a CELTA certification which improved my knowledge in terms of didactics, linguistics and teaching techniques.
Previously, I worked as a research assistant at Birbeck University in London, where I co-authored a research paper on multilingualism of nannies in the UK. During the research, I conducted interviews in Italian and English, therefore carrying out an accurate translation and interpreting work.
I am a teacher of English as a second and foreign language and Italian as a heritage language with extensive knowledge of teaching techniques and solid experience in designing effective and engaging teaching materials. In addition to my experience as a teacher, I also work as a translator with different clients such as privates, schools and marketing agencies.
I have solid experience in designing effective, personalised and engaging teaching materials that suit students of different ages and facilitate learning. I have experience teaching very young children, primary and secondary school students and adults, online and in the classroom.
I have strong interpersonal communication skills, positive energy and a "can-do" attitude that motivates and makes students feel comfortable and more willing to participate in classroom activities.
I like to create materials based on students' needs, using different tools such as video, audio, games and presentations. As a foreign language teacher, I am very aware of cultural differences and heritage. I always take students' cultural and personal backgrounds into account to create sensitive and practical activities in my lessons.
